It was purchased by the city of Hamilton for about $50,000 from its previous owners. It has welcomed and entertained kings, queens, presidents and prime ministers such as Sir John A. Macdonald and many others. Built in the 1830’s, it is a National Historic Site of Canada – in other words, a national treasure.
