You will find that the list of the tallest buildings in Canada is primarily located in Toronto, which should not surprise anyone. But for research purpose to our fans, we decide to list the tallest building here. If you rent space in any of the buildings, we would love to hear your comments.
1. First Canadian Place – Toronto, Ontario
Located at 100 King St W, in downtown Toronto, the tallest building in Canada has been appropriately named – First Canadian Place because it is first, the tallest building in Canada and it is Canadian! This place has it all; commercial offices, many dentists and doctors call this building home, over 100 shopping stores, gyms, event spaces and so much more. It is also home to one of the biggest banks in Canada – Bank of Montreal (BMO). For now, it remains the tallest building until “The One” is completed in 2- 3 years in downtown Toronto.
2. The St. Regis Toronto
Right in the financial district is the St. Regis Toronto, one of the most beautiful buildings in all of Canada. It’s new, it is tall and it is gorgeous. It is currently the second tallest building in Canada. The Trump Organization and family used to be minority shareholders of the building. It is primarily a hotel, one of the nicest in town – a lot of people have their weddings here.
3. Scotia Plaza – Toronto, Ontario
In third place is Scotia Plaza, named after one of the countries largest banks – Scotiabank. The bank used to own this building until it sold it off, but remains the building’s largest tenant. It is primarily a commercial building with the majority of them being companies and a few dental and doctor’s offices.
4. Aura – Toronto, Ontario
Appropriately named, The Aura is one of the coolest looking buildings in Canada, especially at night – the building lights up and it is a sight to behold. It is currently the 4th tallest building. It is a commercial and residential building located in downtown Toronto.
5. TD Canada Trust Tower – Toronto, Ontario
The TD Canada Trust tower in Toronto is our Canadian version of the Empire State building in New York. It has a very cool and unique design, there is nothing like in Toronto. It is the world headquarters of Canadian banking giant TD Bank. It is a commercial complex.
6. One Bloor – Toronto
The One Bloor is a beautiful residential and retail building located in downtown Toronto. Breathtaking views for the tenants above.
7. Stantec Tower – Edmonton, Alberta
Finally… a building NOT located in Toronto. At number 7 is the Stantec Tower located in beautiful Edmonton, Alberta – Canada. It is an office and residential building… still under construction – the tallest building in the city. The building currently has 66 floors and cost an estimated $500 million.
8. Brookfield Place East – Calgary, Alberta
Located in one of my most favourite cities in the world is Brookfield Place East in Calgary, Alberta. Although it is visually nice, we will admit that at an estimated cost of 1.3 billion dollars, the quality of the building could be better.
9. Commerce Court West – Toronto
Rounding out the top 10 is the Commerce Court West skyscraper located in Toronto. It is the headquarters and home of the banking giant Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC). It is an old building (the 1930s) but well maintained.
