Forillon National Park

Forillon National Park protects cliffs, headlands, beaches, coves, and forested highlands at the outer tip of the Gaspé Peninsula, where the Appalachians meet the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Famous for seabird colonies, whale watching, and sweeping coastal scenery, the park also preserves historic fishing settlements and lighthouses that tell the story of Gaspé’s maritime heritage.

Overview

Forillon marks the dramatic meeting of mountains and sea. High limestone and sandstone cliffs plunge into deep water frequented by whales; inland, mixed Acadian–boreal forests cover rounded hills and river valleys. The park’s cultural places—such as Grande-Grave and Anse-Blanchette—interpret cod fishing, merchant trading, and everyday life along the Gaspé coast.
